About Me
Hi there! I’m Sarah, and I’m so glad you found your way to my little corner of the internet. I’m a 38-year-old mom of two living in the beautiful foothills of Denver, Colorado, where I spend my days juggling work, family, and my absolute passion for creating delicious, nourishing meals.
My love affair with cooking started early, thanks to my grandmother Rose, who taught me that the best recipes come from the heart, not just a cookbook. Growing up in her tiny kitchen, I learned that cooking isn’t just about following instructions—it’s about understanding ingredients, trusting your instincts, and never being afraid to taste as you go. She used to say, ‘Honey, if it doesn’t make you smile when you smell it, it’s not worth eating,’ and that philosophy has stuck with me through every kitchen adventure since.
For years, I was that person who meal prepped religiously every Sunday, filling our fridge with colorful containers that would feed my family throughout the week. I loved experimenting with new flavors, trying to sneak extra vegetables into my kids’ favorite dishes, and finding ways to make healthy food actually taste incredible. My kitchen became my creative playground, and honestly, some of my best thinking happens while I’m chopping vegetables or waiting for something to simmer.
Then life threw me a curveball. When my doctor prescribed me a GLP-1 medication to help with my weight loss journey, I felt completely lost in my own kitchen for the first time in decades. Suddenly, all my go-to recipes seemed wrong. The rich, creamy pasta dishes that my family loved left me feeling miserable. My famous Saturday morning pancakes became my enemy. I remember standing in my pantry one evening, literally crying because I didn’t know what to make for dinner anymore.
But you know what? That low point became my turning point. I’ve always been the type of person who tackles challenges head-on, and this was no different. I dove into research, experimented with new ingredients, and honestly made some pretty spectacular failures along the way. There was the infamous ‘protein powder pancake disaster of last spring’ that my kids still tease me about, and don’t even get me started on my first attempt at cauliflower mac and cheese—let’s just say the dog wasn’t even interested.
Through all that trial and error, though, I discovered something amazing. The right recipes could actually make me feel better than ever while supporting my medication. I learned that high-protein, high-fiber meals didn’t have to be boring or taste like cardboard. I figured out how to create satisfying, flavorful dishes that kept me energized, didn’t trigger uncomfortable side effects, and still earned the approval of my notoriously picky teenagers.
What really drove me to start this blog was the frustration of searching endlessly online for practical GLP-1-friendly recipes and coming up empty-handed. Everything I found was either too complicated for my busy weeknight reality, required ingredients I’d never heard of, or frankly just didn’t taste good. I wanted to create the resource I wished I’d had during those overwhelming early days—real recipes from a real kitchen, tested by a real family.
Every single recipe you’ll find here has been through the ultimate test: my dinner table. If it can satisfy my teenager who lives on pizza and my husband who thinks vegetables are suspicious, while also making me feel fantastic, then I know it’s worth sharing. I believe that eating well while managing your health shouldn’t mean sacrificing flavor or spending hours in the kitchen, and I’m here to prove that delicious and nourishing can absolutely go hand in hand.
When I’m not in the kitchen creating new recipes, you can usually find me hiking the gorgeous Colorado trails with my family, tending to my small herb garden that somehow grows despite my questionable gardening skills, or curled up with a good cookbook and a cup of tea, dreaming up my next culinary experiment. I’m passionate about showing people that taking care of your health can be delicious, achievable, and even fun.
I’m so excited to share this journey with you, and I can’t wait to hear about your own kitchen adventures. Remember, we’re all just figuring it out as we go, one recipe at a time!
